BMW R 1200 GS “15 years 4-valve GS”
The 500,000th GS – we think it’s worth a special model.
For 15 years, the 4-valve GS has been the most popular and successful big travel enduro big travel enduro – all over the world. On 12th May 2009 the 500,000th GS came off the production line in Berlin – a good reason to produce a special edition, the R 1200 GS “15 years 4-valve GS”. Its universal qualities are underscored with a masculine off-road style: black cross-spoke wheels otherwise only available for the R 1200 GS Adventure, in conjunction with the two-colour grey/black adjustable seat and the aluminium cylinder head guard ensure a stylish look. Combined with the paint finish Alpine White, trendy but well-established as the colour representing off-road motorcycling, this results in a unique visual appearance which is further reinforced by the dark tinted windshield (not for the USA), flared mudguard and oil cooler spoiler in solid-colour black plastic. The adjustable seat heights have also been adjusted to the bike’s enhanced off-road feel: here they are 870/890 mm instead of 850/870 mm in the standard version, 820 mm for the low seat and 790 mm in combination with the lowered suspension (both the latter options only available with black seat). Of course the special model can also be fitted with all other available options: in this way the R 1200 GS “15 years 4-valve GS” is clearly set apart from the standard production model and makes a highly distinctive eye-catcher.
