The weather turned out particularly well for the tenth anniversary of BMW Motorrad Days. In hot midsummer temperatures, over 35,000 riders and fans of the brand BMW Motorrad not only set up a new attendance record but also partied to their hearts' content for three days on end. Once again this year, BMW motorcyclists from all over the world flocked to Garmisch-Partenkirchen to experience an unforgettable weekend together.
The attractive event program, this time largely dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the BMW GS, had a number of surprises in store. In addition to the various test rides, motorcycle convoys through the surrounding area, spectacular stunt shows and a great party mood, visitors enjoyed two absolute highlights at the Motorrad Days - the award ceremony for special GS models and a draw for two BMW Motorrad "30 Years GS" special models. Among the numerous guests there were once again many celebrities such as actors Bettina Zimmermann and Hannes Jaenicke, who along with other visitors took the unique opportunity to find out about the latest BMW Motorrad products and innovations in the area of accessories and service.
The numerous opportunities for exclusive test rides were especially popular, enabling those interested to try out the model range of the brands BMW Motorrad and Husqvarna as they pleased. A total of over 950 motorcyclists rode BMW machines over the three days, including 700 on the Hausberg enduro track and 300 on the G 450 X and Husqvarna models on the demanding x-track circuit. Team BMW Husqvarna Motorsport was featured on the X-Track too, demonstrating to spectators some samples of their skills with short show races. Four- times World Stunt Riding Champion and newly minted champion Chris Pfeiffer thrilled his audience in the Freestyle Area. The breathtaking stunts in which he apparently turned the laws of physics literally upside down were once again among the highlights of the weekend. The acrobatic show program performed by Igor Obu and his partner Stefan Schlie on their mountain bikes was no less spectacular. It was on Saturday that the temperature at BMW Motorrad really shot up: all those present had the opportunity to watch the quarter-final match of the German national football team on numerous projection screens. The great 4:0 victory was celebrated throughout the grounds well into the early hours.
All in all the anniversary edition of the BMW Motorrad days was once again an unforgettable event which brought fans of the brand together. This was also the verdict of the First Mayor of Garmisch-Partenkirchen Thomas Schmid and of Hendrik von Kuenheim, Head of BMW Motorrad. Both sides are keen to continue this almost family-like partnership, so the fan community can already look forward to the 11th BMW Motorrad Days. Note the dates in your diary: July 1st - 3rd 2011!
