
When Chris Pfeiffer starts his machine, what happens next usually has very little to do with what “normal” people do on a motorbike. This is why he has very special requirements. And the BMW F 800 S – very slightly adapted of course – was fairly successful in meeting these requirements, as can be seen from the first two championships, in which he won first place each time. The right recipe starts with the engine – a 2-cylinder which delivers a well controllable level of power even in the lower engine speed range, of course with a sound which appeals to spectators and enough smoke for proper burn-outs. The next thing Chris needs is maximum ergonomics – no wonder if you look at the positions he gets into when he’s riding. Of course he has made some specific modifications to help – but please don’t imitate his “axle footrests”, “sissy pedal bar” and the laid-back cockpit without lights when you’re riding in regular road traffic! And finally, there’s not much you can do without the right chassis: stable, yet easy to handle, enabling “wheelies” and “stoppies” with its balanced weight distribution.
