BMW Motorrad Italia has launched its latest Urban Lifestyle clothing collection – complete with a shoot in edgy downtown Milan and a famous face modelling the goods. BMW Motorrad Italia World Superbike team rider James Toseland is the star of the new catalogue, which features both the Urban Lifestyle gear and the Superbike teamwear collection. The clothing has been created with the same passion which goes into BMW Motorrad motorcycles and embodies the spirit and quality the brand is renowned for.
The teamwear is an exact replica of that worn by BMW Motorrad Italia’s racers, and is equally at home on or off a motorcycle. The wide range of clothing is stylish, high-quality and functional – designed to meet the high standards of a professional racing team. It has been created to bring the adrenaline of the racetrack to any rider and the sporty style is unmistakable. Everything in the range is instantly recognizable to any fan of the BMW Motorrad team, thanks to the bold navy and white colour scheme and subtle team logos.
With the weather warming up, this is an ideal time to change your riding wardrobe. The replica line includes a number of items which you’ll be able to wear no matter how high temperatures get. The short-sleeved shirt with a v-neck is smart but comfortable option, or for a more laid-back look, choose from either a polo or a t-shirt – both in soft 100 per cent cotton.
The range also includes a long-sleeve t-shirt, a zip-up bomber-style top and a rain jacket – the light cover-up is ideal for taking anywhere in case of showers. There is also a baseball cap and all-navy long-length shorts and, for when the colder weather eventually returns, trousers and a padded winter coat with a high collar. All clothes are available in men’s sizes small to XXL or even XXXL. The t-shirt is also available in women’s sizes small to XL.
James Toseland says: “Any rider will be able to count on the replica range, no matter how high their standards – the BMW Motorrad Italia team certainly does. The quality is excellent, from the fabrics to the fit, to the functionality. These clothes do exactly what they’re designed to do, and look really great at the same time. They’re equally at home in the high-adrenaline atmosphere of a race or on a relaxing weekend ride.”
While the replica clothing line delivers a look anyone would immediately associate with BMW Motorrad, the Urban Lifestyle collection is a little different. The designs are more fashion-focused, with an emphasis on the latest laid-back looks. From a t-shirt with a stylised alien print to a white zip top with contrasting chunky black zips, there are plenty of stand-out pieces.
There are also classic designs, including a luxurious black leather jacket, polo and rugby shirts, and a navy wool jumper and gilet.
James says: “The Urban Lifestyle range does exactly what it says on the tin – these clothes really reflect the BMW Motorrad lifestyle. They’re stylish, luxurious and of impeccable quality. I couldn’t pick out a favourite piece, but I really like the style of the t-shirt with the distressed design. It’s got a great retro feel.
“I had a great time doing the shoot as well – I think downtown Milan was the perfect place for it. Everyone knows Milan is one of the fashion capitals of the world, so it was the natural location in which to showcase the clothes.”
The Urban Lifestyle collection also includes some items for women, including a classic polo shirt, a black hoodie with contrasting white zips and a cosy white zip top. All items are available in sizes small to XXL.
Both the replica clothing and the Urban collection have been designed by well-known Italian brand Bomboogie, which has worked with BMW Motorrad since 2009, when Urban Lifestyle clothing was first introduced. The teamwear followed in 2010.
The launch of the new catalogue has been well promoted, with a press advertising campaign currently underway in the main Italian motorcycle magazines. For more information, visit www.bmw-motorrad.it
