The fascination of BMW Motorrad at the EICMA 2012

“If you have a motorcycle you have a story to tell”. This is the motto of this year's EICMA, which opens its gates in Milan again on November 15th. BMW Motorrad will be making the most of this Italian showcase once more to demonstrate how it has inspired motorcycling fans this year and what new products it has in store to create a stir next year.

First of all, the anniversary year 2013 will be launched with the presentation of the BMW Motorrad "90 years" special models. Whether the first BMW motorcycle ever to come off the production line in 1923, the countless victories in racing and rallies or the millions of kilometres covered by BMW riders all over the world today - BMW Motorrad is simply unstoppable. And that's the way it's been for 90 years.
The special models available are the rock’n’roll roadster R 1200 R, the distinctive touring bike R 1200 RT and the enduro highlight R 1200 GS Adventure. All three are finished in elegant black with gold-coloured model inscription, gold-anodised suspension elements and an exclusive brass plate on the fork bridge. All this stands for the passion of pure fascination - lasting 90 years.

In Milan, BMW Motorrad General Director Stephan Schaller will be announcing an outstanding special for 2013: a new model with air-cooled opposed-twin 'boxer' engine as a distinct way of marking the 90th anniversary of BMW Motorrad. Look forward to a new, exceptional motorcycle which takes the genes drawn from 90 years of passion and fascination to create a fascinating, multifaceted vehicle concept.

Another highlight at the EICMA will be the new F 800 GT. Whether idyllic avenues, winding Alpine pass roads or endless highways - impressive dynamic performance and a high level of riding stability guarantee comfortable riding fun on every tour. The water-cooled 2-cylinder in-line engine with a capacity of 798 cc, a highly sophisticated dual channel ABS and short spring travel ensures maximum riding enjoyment - combined with maximum safety, too.

What is more, the EICMA will also feature the ultimate icon of all travel enduro bikes: the R 1200 GS. Here BMW Motorrad has opened up a whole new chapter of its longstanding success story by further perfecting the R 1200 GS. Get an exclusive, close-up experience of power in every situation, supreme control and powerful individual flair. In short: discover the best GS of all times live at the EICMA.

What is more, the jury of the great travel adventure "One World One R 1200 GS" will be presented. This panel of specialists from the motorcycle and enduro world will be selecting five suitable enduro enthusiasts who are to be given the opportunity to set off on the tour of a lifetime. Resilience, curiosity and experience are just some of the qualities the perfect candidate will need. Be there when the jury is introduced live at the EICMA.

In addition, BMW Motorrad will of course be presenting the highlights of the year once again: the new power machine HP4, the ideal all-rounder F 700 GS, the versatile F 800 GS and naturally all the new colour versions which have become available this year. And if all this is still not enough there is of course BMW Lifestyle, rider equipment and the entire BMW Motorrad range at first hand, too!
