  • Displacement: 999 cc.
  • Rated power: 147 kW (200 hp) at 13,500 rpm.
  • Max. torque: 116 Nm at 10,500 rpm.
  • Compression ratio: 13.7 : 1.
  • Mixture preparation/engine management: Electronic injection, digital engine electronics with integrated knock control (BMS-KP).

Note on warranty

Installation of the HP Race Engine Kit 1 renders the motorcycle a high-performance product with a correspondingly short life expectancy on account of its use in motorcycle racing. Consequently, the machine no longer corresponds to the life-expectancy requirements of a road-legal motorcycle. In turn, this means that the warranty is restricted to freedom of defects in the material and the as-delivered condition of the brand-new motorcycle or component.

  • No running in necessary.
  • Complies with the close-to-series-specification / Superstock rules for 2013.
  • Already proven by racing teams in racing series organised at national level (e.g. in the German, British, Italian and French series and European championships and the Superstock world championship series).
  • In addition, BMW Motorrad recommends using the HP Race Calibration Kit, which enables customisation of the engine-management parameters and the DTC parameters for a further increase in performance and individualisation in terms of tuning and set-up.
  • Optional: Airbox for more top-end power.

  • In addition to the HP Race Engine Kit 1 there are also 2 other race engines available from BMW.

Differentiation between HP Race Engine Kits 1, 2 and 3

  • HP Race Engine Kit 1:
    • Complies with the close-to-series-specification / Superstock rules for 2013.
    • For details see the Product Information bulletin.
    • Available through the BMW Motorrad dealer organisation.
  • HP Race Engine Kit 2:
    • Complies with the IDM and EWC rules for 2013.
    • Stock-production engine hand-built and power testing like Kit 1, additionally with HP Race Camshafts Kit.
    • By comparison with Kit 1 even better power and torque development.
    • Including specially tuned Racing data release for engine control unit.
    • Optional: Airbox for more top-end power.
    • Only in combination with HP Race Power Kit and HP Race Calibration Kit.
    • Target group: Professional and private racing teams, possibly ambitious racing riders.
    • Currently available only through hp-race-support@bmw-motorrad.com as exclusive distribution channel.
  • HP Race Engine Kit 3:
    • Complies with the WSBK rules for 2013.
    • Reliably pure-bred racing engine as expansion stage with maximum possible power and torque using modified special parts (e.g. titanium conrods, two-ring pistons, special oil pan).
    • Including airbox and specially tuned Racing data release for engine control unit.
    • Optional: All-titanium exhaust system with cross-over to one side.
    • Target group: Professional racing teams.
