NAVIGATOR IV.

The BMW Motorrad Navigator IV makes tours on unknown routes even easier, safer, and more relaxing. This is made possible by the large 4.3“ 16:9 touchscreen and the improved satellite receiver combined with a fast processor for even faster route calculations.

This navigation system has been configured even better than before for motorcycle applications, and can be operated by gloved riders even when the vehicle is moving. Now in a flatter housing, the BMW Motorrad Navigator IV presents extra large touchscreen buttons and four additional control keys on the left side of the exclusive advanced mount cradle. The robust navigation device therefore combines the greatest ease of operation with an outstanding range of functions.

In detail, the BMW Motorrad Navigator IV presents an optimised user interface for a number of new software functions like the lane assistant, junction views, and 3D depictions of buildings. Two user definable data fields allow the user to configure his own map view with information like arrival time, remaining time, average speed, direction of travel, and present altitude.

The BMW Motorrad Navigator IV transmits its instructions on the motorcycle via Bluetooth to a suitably equipped helmet or the loudspeaker integrated in the car. The navigation device also pronounces all street names (text to speech) so that the rider can always keep his eyes on the road.

The BMW Motorrad Navigator IV supports a large number of mobile telephones equipped with Bluetooth and allows the motorcycle rider to accept and make telephone calls directly on the navigator's display. The new motorcycle navigator is also recommended as a music player, thanks to its highly developed integrated MP3 system, the corresponding Bluetooth A2DP profile for stereo links to the Bluetooth helmet, and its double memory capacity of 4 GB.

The watertight device comes with preinstalled map data for forty countries in Western and Eastern Europe with over 1.5 million points of interest. Also the tour planning software MapSource™ is provided for the individual and convenient planning of routes on a PC. The planned routes can be transferred to the BMW Motorrad Navigator IV that also records automatically the routes taken. These routes can then be viewed afterwards in MapSource™ or Google Earth. The integrated slot for microSD memory cards can read in additional, optional map data and share routes and points of interest with other Navigator IV devices. The data can also be shared over Bluetooth.

With its tried and tested mounts designed specifically for each vehicle, the BMW Motorrad Navigator IV can be very easily installed on all BMW motorcycles fitted with the standard connection (optional accessory).

The new navigation system is therefore compatible with most of the current BMW motorcycles. One option takes the form of a car kit. This makes the powerful copilot the ideal companion for both motorcyclist and car driver. In the car, this flexible navigation system with integrated loudspeaker and microphone also functions as a Bluetooth hands free kit for mobile telephones.

Also, the BMW Motorrad Navigator IV can be used for the first time as a standalone unit outside of the vehicle. Thanks to its integrated lithium ion batteries providing power for up to five hours, it can be conveniently programmed during breaks or used as a standalone pathfinder on hiking and cycling tours.
