Team USA

BILL DRAGOO:

AT WHAT AGE DID YOU RIDE A MOTORBIKE FIRST TIME?
I was five years old when a town’s motor cop, gave me a ride on his Harley Davidson Pan Head.

WHICH MODEL WAS YOU FIRST MOTORBIKE?
I was 13 years old, working at the Sonic Drive-In for 65 Cents an hour and I saved every penny until I could almost afford a new 1970 Honda CL 70.

WHY ENDURO?
I ride a dual sport capable (Enduro) motorcycle because it takes me places I can only imagine from the tarmac.

WHO ARE YOUR IDOLS? WHY?
I suppose if I had an idol it would have to be Malcolm Smith. The movie, “On Any Sunday,” came out during the heyday of my racing career.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MOST EXTREME ENDURO EXPERIENCES?
I have ridden off road in some challenging places, from Colorado’s Rocky Mountains to the jungles of Costa Rica.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE GS TROPHY?
In short, to win. I consider this event a blessing beyond my wildest dreams. We
are amateur riders.

WHAT GOALS DO YOU HAVE LEFT TO ACHIEVE WITH YOU ENDURO?
My wife and I love to ride together when we can make that happen. Europe has numerous venues we hope to enjoy, but our country has vast lands to be explored as well.

WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST FAN?
My mother wins the prize for holding that spot the longest and my wife, Susan, who has made up for lost ground by embracing the “mistress” of my affection and even making it her own.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE?
Life is either an adventure or nothing. Even a hike in the neighborhood is worth doing if it gets us on the move.

IAIN GLYNN:

AT WHAT AGE DID YOU RIDE A MOTORBIKE FIRST TIME?
I learned how to ride on my friend's XR80 when his dad took us out riding at 14 years old.

WHICH MODEL WAS YOU FIRST MOTORBIKE?
My first bike was a 1988 Honda NX250. It was very attractive compared to the other bikes in its class.

WHY ENDURO?
For me, an Enduro bike is capable of any type of travel I could want to do.

WHO ARE YOUR IDOLS? WHY?
My riding heroes are guys like Jimmy Lewis and Cyril Despres and world travelers like Helge Pedersen or Glen Heggstad.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MOST EXTREME ENDURO EXPERIENCES?
For me though, the most extreme Enduro experiences have been day rides with friends, just push the limits of what we can do on motorcycles.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE GS TROPHY
I just want to have a good time and work well with my team in South Africa.

WHAT GOALS DO YOU HAVE LEFT TO ACHIEVE WITH YOU ENDURO?
The most challenging will be convincing and then teaching my wife to ride with me as the trips keep getting bigger and longer.

WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST FAN?
I know my family and my friends are proud of me and hope that I do well.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE?
I just want to thank everyone involved in this whole project, my wife my coworkers and BMW for making all of this possible.

SHANNON MARKLE:

I was around the age of 12 when I started riding dirtbikes.

WHICH MODEL WAS YOU FIRST MOTORBIKE?
A Honda XR 100 was my first bike.

WHY ENDURO?
The 2007 GSA was my very first motorcycle. I immediately felt in love with it.

WHO ARE YOUR IDOLS? WHY?
GOD

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR MOST EXTREME ENDURO EXPERIENCES?
My most extreme experience was fairly recent at the Adventure Riders Challenge in Castaic California where we completed for a place on Team USA.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THE GS TROPHY?
I want to represent my team and the United States well, make many new friends and bring the Trophy back home.

WHAT GOALS DO YOU HAVE LEFT TO ACHIEVE WITH YOU ENDURO?
I would like to ride on every continent in the world, so far I have one under my belt and a few more to go.

WHO IS YOUR BIGGEST FAN?
My wife is my biggest supporter, closely followed by parents, my brothers and my friends.

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO SHARE?
I find this whole event pretty amazing and I have never heard of any other sponsered event that takes normal amateur owners and treats them to an exotic experience half way around the world.
