David Fonseca Chinchilla:

How long have you been riding a motorcycle and how did you develop your passion for off-road riding?
I learned to ride when I was 14 years old on my dad´s motorcycle. In 2003 I bought my first motorbike, a 100 cc, and since then I've gone off roading!

What do you associate with the BMW Motorrad GS?
A passion for riding and exploring new roads and places, adventurous long rides, the sense of belonging to a special community. And refined and trusty motorcycles as well, of course!

What was your most extreme or unusual enduro experience to date?
My friends and me riding our big bikes through gnarly roads for many many kilometres, not minding about what day or hour it is or where to spend the night but just having fun while overcoming all sorts of obstacles.

What are your goals for the GS Trophy 2012?
Having a great time, really enjoying this truly unforgettable experience. Really bonding with my team and great camaraderie among all participants. Also, I expect to see really awesome landscapes, and really enjoy myself going through all sorts of roads and tests you have prepared for us. I can't wait!

The GS Trophy is a unique event. What do you find most fascinating about it?
Truly unique indeed! I just love this whole GS Trophy idea / event and even more being part of it. I'm really grateful for this opportunity. I know this will provoke more passion for riding off-road on GS bikes around the world and also strengthen the love of the brand. Congrats BMW Motorrad for making this possible!!!

What other goals do you wish to achieve in the long term with your GS?
Of course I would love my team to win the event! Also I want to successfully overcome all of sorts of tests you've prepared, this being a key ingredient for my team. Learn more and gain more key experience riding GS bikes off road. I want to represent my country, Costa Rica, and my area, Latin America, in the best way possible.

Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about?
This is a dream come true for me. Perhaps even better than a dream because I wouldn´t have imagined that BMW Motorrad was going to create such an event and that I was going to be part of it.

Alejandro Barrios:

How long have you been riding a motorcycle and how did you develop your passion for off-road riding?
I've been riding bikes since I was 3! My first bike was a Yamaha PW50J. I rode it like a maniac for about 5 years!!

What do you associate with the BMW Motorrad GS?
A need for adventure! Although I was involved in an accident on my 99' R 1100 GS recently (head-on collision against a car going at about 60 mph), and now what I associate most with the BMW brand is SAFETY!!! I wouldn't be here if I had been riding another bike!

What was your most extreme or unusual enduro experience to date?
It was definitely the GS Trophy Qualifier in Panama. We had to ride about 8 miles on the sand, which I guess is not even close to what we'll be riding in Chile!

What are your goals for the GS Trophy 2012?
We definitely want to win this!

The GS Trophy is a unique event. What do you find most fascinating about it?
So far I've owned 3 BMWs. Once you have your first BMW, you're pretty much married to the brand! And this being one of the brand's top events, I'm fascinated by it!

What other goals do you wish to achieve in the long term with your GS?
I really met a lot of great people in the qualifiers. The atmosphere was great! I do hope to meet new people in the Finals and maybe get other opportunities,
further down the road, like this one.

Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about?
I'm stoked about this! Can't wait!!!
