Team Russia

Andrey Sokolov:

How long have you been riding a motorcycle and how did you develop your passion for off-road riding?
My motorcycling life started when I was 6 years old. My father bought me an MX bike (50cc LEM). I was interested in motocross for 7 more years. For me, motorcycling is more than a passion. They are my friends, and I can easily find out how to ride them. And enduro is that class of motorcycling that give riders more of a feel for the bike (bike control over different terrain) because it is the closest kind of riding to MX.

What do you associate with the BMW Motorrad GS?
The BMW GS series is the best in enduro class of motorbikes I've ever ride in my life.

What was your most extreme or unusual enduro experience to date?
I think the two best events at which I gained enduro experience were the BMW GS Challenge Russia 2011 and the GS Trophy Russia 2012.

What are your goals for the GS Trophy 2012?
As I know that the Trophy 2012 is a team race, I hope our team can achieve good results and win a prize. For me it's an adventure with friendly people from different countries who share the same passion. So I want to have fun and relax ;)

The GS Trophy is a unique event. What do you find most fascinating about it?
I think I'll be able to tell you what fascinates me after some days of experiencing the event.

What other goals do you wish to achieve in the long term with your GS?
I want to make a motorcycle tour around Europe on my F 800 GS

Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about?
Since my first day of motorcycling I have felt that I really need it. When I get on the bike my headache leaves me and I relax and enjoy the ride. When I'm in a good mood it's not a problem for me to do some crazy things on my bike, snowboard, ski or bicycle. I like extreme sports and hope to be able to buy an MX bike to feel those wonderful moments of flight and speed.
