FIM EWC
The FIM Endurance World Championship (FIM EWC) is the world’s premier long-distance motorcycle race series. It is organised by the FIM, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme. The races last up to 24 hours, with some eight-hour races lasting into the night. Even the start of the race is spectacular, as the riders sprint over the track to their bikes. BMW Motorrad Motorsport has been competing in the series since the 2019/20 season and has become one of the championship’s established teams.
FIM EWC World Champion 2026
BMW Motorrad celebrated a historic success, as the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team secured the world championship title in the FIM Endurance World Championship 2026 with the #37 BMW M 1000 RR. In doing so, BMW Motorrad wrote history by becoming the first European manufacturer to win the EWC title. Read the article to find out more.
BMW Motorrad in the FIM EWC
The BMW Motorrad Motorsport World Endurance Team has been flying the flag for BMW Motorrad Motorsport in this series since joining the FIM EWC in the 2019/20 season. Team Manager Werner Daemen leads a team with decades of experience on the world stage.
They are joined by an outstanding trio of riders: Markus Reiterberger, Michael van der Mark and Steven Odendaal. As well as being fast and experienced riders in international motorsport, they work together like a well-oiled machine. This is another key to success in long-distance racing.
Teamwork the key to success
Long-distance races place enormous stress on both the riders and the motorcycles. That is why each team has multiple riders who swap regularly during the race. After each stint, they hand over the bike to their teammate, in order to ensure that both rider and machine can perform to their best over several hours.

Team
BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team
The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team is one of the top teams in the FIM EWC. This success is based on the many years of racing experience of team boss Werner Daemen. He himself once stood on long-distance racing podiums and secured the first international victory for the BMW S 1000 RR in 2009. After ending his career as a rider, he experienced success with his organisation MRP Racing, whose crowning achievement was the world championship title in the FIM EWC.
Markus Reiterberger
Markus Reiterberger was born on 9 March 1994 in Trostberg near Munich. He started his career at BMW Motorrad when he was just a teenager, and has been celebrating both national and international titles ever since. He has been supporting the team as a regular rider since the first season in 2019/20, contributing both his extraordinary experience on BMW motorbikes and his dedication to speed.
